The Dearborn Community Arts Council (DCAC) is dedicating this year’s photo show to
Dearborn artist, teacher and photographer Teresa Lousias, a beloved member of our arts community
who passed away on December 5th. The Teresa Lousias Memorial Award will be a $100 cash prize
plus ProCam gift card for the “Best of Show” winner, with additional cash prizes and ProCam gift
cards for the “color” and “black & white” categories. The Exhibition kicks off the DCAC’s New Year
of art activities on Friday, February 1st and will also serve as a fundraiser for future awards in her
name. Teresa Lousias’ memory will also be honored at an informal Memorial Gathering on Saturday,
February 2nd at 12pm in the Gallery. This gathering will allow friends and family to share memories
of the photographer who, among many other achievements, was also a member of the Artists’ Society
of Dearborn, a current member of the DCAC’s Advisory Board and past President of the DCAC.
Besides the above mentioned categories, this show, which Teresa Lousias also judged in the past,
will feature a “digitally altered” category along with special awards and prizes. This year’s judges are
DCAC Board Members Lance Rosol and Gayle Dickerson, two well-respected artists (bios attached)
from our community. They will select submissions by photographers who appreciate the opportunity to
present their work in a professional gallery setting that Teresa Lousias herself knew and loved. Also,
on Thursday, February 28th - the final day of the Exhibition, the DCAC and Senior Services will once
again join forces to present “Paczki at the Padzieski” – a free Gallery Talk with Polish treats and
beverages, featuring the winning photographers discussing their work at 1:30pm.
